If you are planning to study in Australia for more than three months, you should have a student visa. To obtain a student visa in Australia you need to follow certain visa process requirements which include

• Submit a student visa application.
• Pay an application fee.
• You should have a valid passport.
• You need to provide evidence that you are financially stable to fund your education in Australia.
• Provide appropriate information about academic and English ability.
• Provide an e CoE (Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment) for a course.
• You need to provide with the information that you have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
• You need to prove that you possess a moral character, sound health and are under no debts to the Australian Government.

Visas are granted by the DIAC or Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship but you will be only granted student visa by DIAC if your course is registered or is a part of a registered course on a full time basis. All registered courses are offered by an Australian education provider and registered with the Australian Government to offer courses to international students.

As discussed above, that you must apply for student visa if your courses have more than three months of duration. The advantages on student visa in Australia are as follows

• You have access to Australia subsidized student health cover.
• You are allowed to study for longer duration than three months.
• You can also apply to work on part time basis.

You can immediately apply for your student visa as soon as you receive a letter of offer or electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your full time course. However, it is suggested to wait until you get an advice from your local Australian Government office to enroll or obtain a CoE.
